bad instrument choice
The melodies weren't necessarily bad... just poorly executed. Your instrument choice wasn't good at all; nothing went well together. Also, you should make it a little slower. The background pad gave it a mellow feel but your other instruments just didn't work well with it at all.
Sorry for being kinda harsh, but you said it's just a demo so hopefully you can work out everything in the next version.

It didn't quite have the energy I was hoping for. Maybe a little faster? A deeper kick would help. I like it though. good work!

The drums are too quiet and the main synth gets a little annoying after a while but I like the variation.
